It had a population of 16,936 as per the 2016 census.

A service reservoir was constructed in 1944 to the east of Norris Road and the Ti Tree swamp on the east of Denham Street. The first primary school was opened in 1957 and beginning in 1966, the Housing Commission started building the suburb’s first houses. A shopping center emerged in the suburb in the early 1970s, and locals welcomed several schools and churches from the late 70s onwards.

Bracken Ridge has an indoor sports center and is home to the “Ridgettes,” a netball club that is a part of the Brisbane Netball Association. There is also a lot of parks in the suburb, making walks to its local cafes, restaurants, and bars a real pleasure.
